Too quick, too patient, and too disciplined.

The University of Perpetual Help System-Jonelta displayed all these and much more in their game against the host school, University of San Agustin in their 2019 UNIGAMES Men’s basketball showdown.

The disciplined full-court pressure defense of Perpetual made it hard for USA to even cross the half-court line, much less score the basketball, handing the Ilonggos an 84-48 demolition in their home court.

The score was close to start the match at 7-6 in favor of Perpetual but that was as close as San Ag was ever going to get. From that point, Perpetual began to dominate in all facets of the game, their defense being the key factor.

Out of their timout, Perpetual displayed 28 minutes of consistent defense, clogging down lanes and intercepting the passes of USA.

It was 48-17 in the first half and USA tried to talk things over but there were just too many weapons coming from Perpetual.

With the desire to pump up the Ilonggo fans who came to support them, USA was able to produce a 29-point third canto that kept the gym alive, ending the third 61-46.

Unfortunately, it was all Perpetual in the final frame, as USA just could not convert a shot as fatigue struck them, allowing the visitors to pull away and complete the victory.
