ROXAS CITY, Capiz – Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) has declared 418 barangays or villages in Capiz as “drug-cleared.”

Before the declaration, PDEA-Capiz Provincial Officer Gelly Robins Cataluña said that out of the 473 barangays in Capiz, 373 were considered drug affected while 101 were unaffected.

But with the continuous drug clearing program, only 55 villages remain uncleared – 31 in Roxas City, 9 in Panitan, 5 in Panay, 4 in Mambusao, 3 in Pontevedra, and one each in President Roxas, Sigma and Pilar.

Cataluña said that before a barangay is labeled as drug cleared, drug users should undergo community-based drug rehabilitation program (CBRP).

He clarified that the barangay officials will not stop monitoring illegal activities in their village after the declaration.
