The Iloilo Kisela Knights just clinched one of its most dominant outings in the ongoing 2022 Professional Chess Association of the Philippines (PCAP) third conference tournament last November 23, 2022.

Gunning for another strong finish before the playoffs begin, the Kisela Knights had a statement sweep and decimated Cebu, 20.5-0.5, and the Cagayan de Oro Misamis Oriental (CMOCA), 17-4.

The Kisela Knights immediately put up a statement win over Cebu and recorded one of the most lopsided victories in the history of PCAP.

Cebu’s only score came in the blitz category when NM Elwin Retanal forced a draw against the Kisela Knights’ NM Rolly Parondo Jr.

After that, everything just went Iloilo’s way and handed Cebu an overwhelming beat down in the last seven playing boards.

The Kisela Knights capped off its huge start with a 14-0 scoring in the rapid category courtesy of impressive performances from NM Giovanni Mejia, NM Fritz Bryan Porras, and NM John Michael Silvederio.

After back-to-back wins from Karl Viktor Ochoa and NM Mejia, the Kisela Knights showed no mercy against Cebu to record another clean sweep.

The Kisela Knights weren’t done displaying their well-refined offense and continued to pour in the attack against CMOCA.

It was all Iloilo from the get-go as the Kisela Knights quickly ballooned their lead to 6-1 after the first seven playing boards.

Despite CMOCA’s early win at the start of the rapid category, the Kisela Knights countered with a 6-0 run and ended the category with an 11-3 score.

With the sweeping game day, the Kisela Knights improved to 463 points built from a 28-4 win-loss record and is still the second-best team in the Southern division behind Davao with 491.5 points.
