Panay town’s No. 6 most wanted arrested in Mindoro

ROXAS CITY, Capiz — The sixth most wanted person in Panay, Capiz was arrested by police Tuesday morning at Brgy. Poblacion, San Jose, Occidental Mindoro.

Benjie Burata, 29, a native of Brgy. Cogon, Panay town but temporarily resided in San Jose, Occidental Mindoro did not resist when the police served a warrant of arrest for a murder charge.

Burata was first arrested by Occidental Mindoro police last February 2021 for violation of Republic Act 9262 or Violence Against Women and Their Children (VAWC).

When the Mindoro police learned of his other case in Capiz, the warrant for his arrest was sent to Mindoro and was served to him.

Although his previous case on violence against women was withdrawn by his wife, the suspect will remain in detention for the crime of murder that happened sometime in 2012 in Brgy. Cogon, Panay.

Burata fled and hid in Occidental Mindoro for several years after learning of the case against him.

The court did not recommend bail for his temporary liberty.

Meanwhile, another wanted person was arrested Tuesday afternoon for the crime of attempted homicide in Barangay Poblacion, Dumalag, Capiz.

The police identified the suspect as Raquim Garbosa, 28, of Brgy San Martin Dumalag, Capiz.

He is presently detained at the Dumalag Municipal Police Station

The warrant for his arrest was issued by Judge Joan Palaw Legaspi of MCTC Dasmariñas, Cavite dated February 2, 2021.

The court recommended P12,000 bail for his temporary liberty.

The operation was jointly conducted by the Dumalag PNP and Provincial Intelligence Unit of the Capiz Police Provincial Office.
