BACOLOD City – A misunderstanding about their way of living prompted a man to kill his partner and the latter’s father at Sitio Lugway, Barangay Gargato, Hinigaran, Negros Occidental Saturday night.
Police identified the fatalities as Riza Ballesteros, 36; and her father, Rufino Ballesteros, 64.
Police records showed that a heated argument ensued between Riza and suspect Randy Nario, 33, after the former allegedly blamed him about their poverty.
It triggered Nario to allegedly stabbed Riza on her back.
Riza’s father intervened but he was also allegedly stabbed by Nario on his chest.
Both victims were rushed to a hospital but they were declared dead.
Nario surrendered to the police but the bladed weapon he used in the crime was not recovered from the scene. He alleged that he threw it into a river.
Police Major James Latayon, town police chief, said homicide charges were already filed against Nario who is detained at Hinigaran Municipal Police Station.
