BACOLOD City – The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) reported its biggest drug haul following the seizure of about 600 grams of suspected shabu worth P4,080,000 in a buy-bust operation at Purok Tangigue, Barangay 1 here last Thursday.

The subject was identified as Jhonie Cabrillos, 27, a former construction worker, while his neighbor was identified as Eric Aguirre, 22, both residents of the said village.

Police Captain Joven Mogato, head of the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU), said that it took them about three weeks to monitor Cabrillos, who was arrested for the first time.

Mogato said they received information about Cabrillos’s alleged involvement in the illegal drug trade, prompting them to conduct validation and monitoring.

Mogato said the two suspects are high-value individuals, considering the huge volume of illegal drugs recovered from them.

The illegal drugs were believed to be sourced outside Negros Occidental and reportedly entered the province through a seaport in San Carlos City.

Mogato said the contraband was reportedly delivered by someone to Cabrillos’s house.

Aguirre reportedly acted as a “runner” of Cabrillos in their transactions.

Mogato also said that Aguirre was previously arrested for a drug offense but was later released when he applied for probation.

Aguirre also previously surrendered to the police through Oplan Tokhang, he added.

Mogato said the suspects allegedly distribute the illegal drugs within the city.

Mogato said they were able to confiscate such a big volume of illegal drugs because drug suspects just wait for an opportunity to strike again after lying low.

“Easy money or iban madakpan may masalo nga ila masaligan, so ma continue naman,” he added.

Police also recovered from them the P3,000 marked money.

Both suspects are detained at Police Station 2 for the filing of drug charges.
