P380,000 ‘shabu’ seized in weekend raids

BACOLOD City – Police seized P380,800 worth of suspected shabu from three persons in separate buy-bust operations here and in Negros Occidental Sunday, Jan. 15.

In Bacolod, operatives of the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) arrested a barber after police confiscated from him 16 grams of suspected shabu worth P108,800, and the P500 marked money, in Barangay Singcang-Airport here.

The subject was identified as Celso Alvarez, 43, of the said village, a street-level individual, according to the police. He is detained at Police Station 8.

In Kabankalan City, a vendor and a helper were arrested at Purok 3, Barangay 1, following the seizure of 40 grams of suspected shabu worth P272,000, and the P500 marked money.

Operatives of the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) busted Richard Olarte, 41, of Barangay Tangub here, and Jerry Dela Cruz, 57, of Barangay 1 here.

Both are newly-identified individuals, according to the police. They are detained at Kabankalan City Police Station.

Meanwhile, P135,700 worth of suspected shabu was also seized from nine persons in separate drug bust operations here and in the province from Jan. 9 to 14.
