ROXAS CITY, Capiz – An estimated P2.5 million in property were lost when a fire hit a rice mill early Saturday morning at Barangay Bula, Mambusao, Capiz.

The rice mill and bodega is owned by Barbara Asis Leones of Poblacion Proper, Mambusao and managed by her son, barangay kagawad Ramonito Villareal.

No one was hurt in the conflagration that allegedly originated from an electrical short circuit.

According to Edwin Cabuhay, 50, rice mill caretaker, his wife woke up early morning and saw the establishment on fire.

Cabuhay said he immediately woke up his children and fled.

Several fire trucks from nearby municipalities responded to the fire call.

The fire gobbled 300 sacks of clean rice, 5,000 sacks of unmilled rice, 60 sacks of corn, rice and corn mill equipment and personal things.

Cabuhay said the 300 sacks of clean rice were about to be delivered to Bacolod City Sunday.
