P100K worth of ‘shabu’ seized from couple

A couple was arrested for allegedly possessing more or less P100,000 worth of illegal drugs in an anti-narcotics operation late afternoon of Feb. 11, 2020 in Pavia, Iloilo.

Police identified the suspects as Nicole Obregon, 27, and her live-in partner, Rovel Anigan, 32, who are temporarily residing at Deca Homes 3 in Barangay Jibao-an, Pavia.

The two suspects allegedly conspired to sell a sachet of suspected shabu worth P15,000 to an undercover member of the Iloilo City Police Office-City Drug Enforcement Unit (ICPO-CDEU).

The money was later recovered from Obregon.

After their arrest, the couple yielded four more sachets of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of P100,000.

Police Staff Sergeant Alvin Casamayo of the ICPO-CDEU said they initially agreed to hold the trade at Jaro Plaza in Iloilo City.

But the couple claimed that they brought less than P15,000 worth of shabu and they have to go home to get more stocks. The operation pushed through in Pavia which led to the couple’s arrest.

Police said Obregon was a high-value target (HVT) drug person because she was also arrested for a similar offense.

She was released from jail in 2017 after she was charged for violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).

Anigan was never arrested until Tuesday.
