ROXAS CITY, Capiz— Three persons were arrested for allegedly selling P100,000 worth of suspected illegal drugs in a drug buy-bust operation Friday afternoon in Brgy. 7 here.

The joint operation by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Capiz and Aklan swooped down on a suspected drug den on Rizal Street in Brgy. 7 and later arrested Buenvenido Genoves, 44, the subject of the operation and resident of Brgy. Banica, Roxas City; Ranel Delos Santos, 35, of Brgy. Poblacion in Pilar, Capiz; and Manuelyn Alcazaren, 24, of Brgy. Bolo, Roxas City.

Recovered from Genoves’ possession were 9 sachets of suspected shabu valued at P105,000 and the P500 marked money.

Police record indicated that Genoves is facing a frustrated homicide case in court after he was linked to the shooting of a tricycle driver last year. He was temporarily freed on bail.

According to PDEA Capiz Provincial Officer Gelly Robins Cataluña, residents reported to barangay officials and the police about the alleged illegal activities of the suspects in their place.

Cataluña said police conducted several test-buys on the suspect. They also secured a surveillance video of an alleged pot session inside the boarding house.

Genoves admitted that he is an ordinary drug user, and they were about to hold pot session with Delos Santos, but it was delayed as the drugs from one alias Tan-Tan have yet to arrive.

He said Alcazaren was not part of the illegal activities as it happened that she was there to charge her cellular phone.

Meanwhile, the three suspects were all positive for drug use following a urine test.

Charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) will be filed against the suspects who are in the custody of the Roxas City PNP.
