P1.7 M worth of shabu seized from ‘newbie druggie’ in Capiz

A newly-identified drug personality was arrested with around P1.7 million worth of illegal drugs following a police anti-narcotics operation afternoon of March 30 in Roxas City, Capiz.

Police identified the suspect as Richard Ferrer, 38, of Barangay Tiza, Roxas City. The suspect works as an online seller on the side.

Members of the Roxas City Police Station did not expect that a big volume of illegal drugs would be seized from Ferrer’s possession.

Police operatives only wanted to buy a sachet of shabu for P2,000 and agreed to meet at Barangay V, Roxas City.

But when he was collared, Ferrer yielded three heat-sealed sachets and one knot-tied plastic sachet containing suspected shabu and shabu paraphernalia.

Lieutenant Colonel Francisco Paguia, Roxas City police chief, said the seized drugs weighed around 250 grams.

Police are not discounting the possibility that the suspect is a “bodegero” or stockkeeper but was tempted to sell drugs because he could not refuse their confidential agent.

The confidential agent introduced the police poseur-buyer to the suspect.

Ferrer is now detained and will be charged for violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).

Meanwhile, Paguia said they’re now keeping a close watch on old players who went back to the illegal drug trade.

He said that operatives are also monitoring arrested and incarcerated drug suspects who have been released after availing of the plea bargaining agreement.
