More than 800 kilograms of pork products were seized by the Iloilo African Swine Fever Task Force (IASFTF) from airports, seaports, and other entry points of Iloilo province.

Data from IASFTF revealed that it confiscated 841.865 kilograms of pork products that included pork longganisa, chicharon, tocino, pork ribs, pork adobo, pork embutido, pork siomai, marinated pork, pork tapa, and cooked ham.

The products came from North Cotabato, Pampanga, Bulacan, Manila, and Batangas.

The confiscated products were disposed using the incinerator machine in the town of Pototan in Iloilo province last March 8, 2022.

Samples from the products were collected by the Bureau of Animal Industry Veterinary Quarantine Station 6 and will be subjected to laboratory analysis.

Iloilo province has banned the entry of pork products from ASF-infected areas through a provincial ordinance which remains in effect.

The Department of Agriculture in Region 6 (DA-6) has warned travelers and entrepreneurs in the province to stop sourcing out their raw materials from the ASF-affected areas as the task force is serious in implementing the provincial ordinance.

Western Visayas remains free from ASF based on the ASF zoning status, as of February 24. (DG)
