OVCAA, UP NEC tie up to train admin staff through ASPIRE

The University of the Philippines Visayas-Office of the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs (UPV-OVCAA) has partnered with the UP National Engineering Center (NEC) for the online Administrative Staff Program towards Institutional Resiliency and Excellence (ASPIRE) for UPV’s administrative staff.

ASPIRE is a training program designed to equip participants with the necessary knowledge, mindset, and skills in developing and implementing a Quality Management System (QMS) that will help their offices or units attain improved and efficient operations, a sustained culture of innovation, customer-driven delivery of services, and empowered human resources.

The training will run for seven synchronous four-hour sessions, spread over a two-month period from August to September 2021. The opening program took place last August 2.

The participants were joined by the administrative staff from UP Los Baños.

As part of the training, participants were tasked to work in groups for the assigned activities.

Dr. Aura Matias, program manager of ASPIRE and professor at the UP College of Engineering, gave an overview and objectives of ASPIRE as well as an introduction of QMS during the opening program.

She also briefly discussed the Philippine Quality Awards. UP Diliman, she said, has already started with its application for the said award to be submitted in 2023. (Carlson B. Alelis, IPO)
