WESTERN VISAYAS – The Occupational Safety and Health Center (OSHC) will be offering the mandatory Basic Occupational Safety and Health Training for Safety Officer 1 via virtual conference for the distressed micro, small and medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
The 2-day training is a mandatory training for establishments in Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises with the need for a SAFETY OFFICER 1 (SO1) in pursuance to Section 3(v) of the DOLE Department Order No. 198-18, otherwise known as the Implementing Rules and Regulations of the Republic Act 11058 “AN ACT STRENGTHENING COMPLIANCE WITH OCCUPATIONAL SAFETYAND HEALTH STANDARDS AND PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR VIOLATIONS THEREOF.”
The training aims to equip participants with basic knowledge and skills on identifying safety, health and environmental hazards; determining appropriate control measures; and developing and implementing OSH policies and programs. Moreover, the training also includes special modules on the prevention and control of CoViD-19 and employees’ compensation program.
Pursuant to the directive of Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III to enhance workplace health and safety, and ease the burden on micro, small and medium businesses amid the impact of the CoViD-19 pandemic, the OSHC will conduct a weekly free virtual BOSH for SO1 training every month for the entire year.

Qualified registrants will need a stable internet connection and device with camera (desktop, laptop, tablet or smart phone) throughout the entire training. Participants who complete the training will receive their certificates of completion for safety officer 1.
