BACOLOD City – Bacolod City Legal Officer Joselito Bayatan said only 16 of the 61 barangays in the city submitted their accomplishment report on the ongoing clearing operations in their respective areas.

Bayatan said based on evaluations conducted by the city government, the rest of the barangays have only accomplished more or less 20 to 35 percent of the road clearing targets.

Bayatan added that Mayor Evelio Leonardia has already issued a memorandum circular reminding all barangay officials that they have only until Friday next week to wrap up the clearing operations.

Barangay officials can expect disciplinary measures from the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) if they fail to meet the requirements.

Officials who fail to comply with the road clearing operations face charges of misconduct in office, neglect of duty, and dereliction of duty.
