The Saint Joseph Los Obreros wrapped up their 2022 On D’ Move (ODM) “School Wars” Roxas leg elimination round with an unblemished 4-0 record and clinched the no.1 spot heading into the highly-anticipated playoffs.
After raking in three-straight wins, the Los Obreros proved they still got enough gas left in the tank after dismantling the Filamer Christian University (FCU) Spirits, 93-65, last October 31, 2022.
Despite the rainy weather, there was no stopping the Capiznon basketball fans as they flocked to the Capiz Gymnasium in another weekend schedule of the ODM School Wars.
The Los Obreros treated their fans with a majestic offensive display after starting the game on a high note courtesy of their balanced interior and shooting offensive executions.
St. Joseph just had tons of advantages against the Spirits as their big men went to work in the shaded lane to give them a quick double-digit lead in the first half.
After their frontcourt put on a show, St. Joseph’s guards closed the show and dazzled the crowd with their deep offensive bag.
The Spirits attempted to cut the lead to 10 points as the third frame was about to end but the Los Obreros sealed the deal with several baskets that put them in a comfortable position in the playoffs.
Leading the way for St. Joseph are AXL Tupas and Joshua Fullo who shared the Best Player of the Game honor award.
Tupas carried the team’s offense with 21 big points while the hardworking Fullo tallied a double-double performance of 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Meanwhile, in the other scheduled game, the Colegio de la Purisima Concepcion (CPC) Angels convincingly won over the Hercor Hub squad, 87-62.
With the victory, the CPC squad secured the tournament’s no. 2 spot in the playoffs after finishing their four-game streak with a 3-1 record.
Henry Peñafiel Jr. played one of his best performances in the ongoing league and dropped 26 big points and three steals.
