Notorious robbers were behind the daytime heist on the house of a Chinese businessman in Arevalo, Iloilo City on Nov. 7, 2020.

Major Edgar Anonoy, Arevalo police chief, confirmed on Monday that they already filed a robbery case against Jo-An Lego, 40, and Rowen Libuna, 22, both from Lambunao, Iloilo, before the Iloilo City Prosecutors’ Office.

The two are members of the Libuna-Lego Group which has also been on Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO)’s radar after staging a series of robbery incidents since December 2019.

Aside from robbery, the group is also allegedly into theft and carnapping activities.

Anonoy said they reviewed several CCTV footages from the areas where the suspects supposedly passed by after the robbery, starting from the time they left the victim’s L300 van at Barangay Pakiad, Oton town.

The CCTV footage revealed that the suspects boarded a tricycle going to Barangay Hibao-an Norte, Mandurriao, Iloilo City and hailed a cab going to Calinog town.

The taxi dropped them off in the town plaza.

It was gathered that the two suspects entered the Florence Ville townhouses at Barangay Dulonan, Arevalo, around 9:30 am of Nov 7.

The suspects told the lone guard manning the entrance that the victim, Wenquian Li, told them to get his vehicle.

The guard allowed them to get in without checking with Li first.

The 39-year old Li owns a cellphone accessory store and has been staying in Iloilo City with his Chinese wife and young child.

He also had a stay-in househelp and a driver when the incident happened.

His wife, on the other hand, was at their store when the robbery occurred.

The two robbers directly went to Li’s unit and immediately poked knives at the househelp who opened the door.

They allegedly placed the househelp and driver at the maid’s quarters.

They then took the victim’s cash of P100,000 and two mobile phones.

They commandeered Li’s L-300 van as a getaway vehicle which they later left it in Oton.
