BACOLOD City – The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo) here will implement the order issued by the provincial government on the optional wearing of face masks in outdoor and open spaces.

This, even as the provincial police office awaits the new guidelines on the implementation of the health protocol against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) from the higher headquarters.

Police Lieutenant Judesses Catalogo, public information officer of Nocppo, said they will hold in abeyance the apprehension of health protocol violators, particularly on the non-wearing of face masks, in respect to the Executive Order (EO) of Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson.

Lacson stated in EO issued on Sept. 9, that wearing face masks in outdoor and open spaces shall be optional for all persons within the territory of Negros Occidental.

Lacson also said that all persons are required to use face masks in indoor spaces, inside hospitals and other medical facilities.

Catalogo said that police officers will continue wearing their face masks particularly during their duties and in offices.

He said they will also still encourage the public through their information dissemination campaign to wear face masks in public until new guidelines will be issued by the national government.
