No more COVID case in NegOcc, PUMs and PUIs continue to drop

BACOLOD City – Negros Occidental no longer has positive coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) case after the lone patient in the province was officially discharged from the hospital Thursday last week.

Also, the numbers of Persons Under Monitoring (PUMs) and Persons Under Investigation (PUIs) continue to drop.

PUM is a person who has no signs and symptoms of COVID-19 but has travel history to infected areas and may have been exposed to infected persons while PUI is a person with signs and symptoms and have travel history to infected areas.

The 41-year-old woman who travelled to Manila and Davao tested negative of the virus on her second swab and was sent home by the medical staff of the Teresita Jalandoni Provincial Hospital.

Meanwhile, data from the provincial government showed that the number of PUIs and PUMs in the province continue to dwindle.

As of April 12 2020, the province has 23 PUIs from a peak of 118 last March 27, 2020.

The PUIs are in 11 localities out of the 31 cities and municipalities in the province. San Carlos City has the highest number with five followed by Calatrava and La Castellana with four each, EB Magalona and Valladolid with two each.

Cadiz City, Cauayan, Ilog, Kabankalan, La Carlota City and San Enrique have one PUI each.

The number of PUMs in the province as of April 12, 2020 is 1,213, from a high of 10,286 last March 26.
