BACOLOD City – A newborn baby boy was found dead at Burgos public cemetery in Barangay Villamonte here last Friday.

Police Major Ritchie Gohee, head of Police Station 4, said that personnel from the Public Order and Safety Office (POSO) assigned to secure public cemeteries here were not able to notice a person entering the cemetery in a suspicious manner that day.

After a while, they sighted a woman immediately coming out of the cemetery, but they failed to recognize her or even question her.

“Indi na da dapat puwede kasulod kung indi ka man lang magsindi, galing that time wala sila ka notice may nag sulod so wala naka register sa logbook,” Gohee said.

Gohee said the baby was placed inside a small plastic container and a plastic box and was sealed in an eco-bag.

Police could not determine if the baby was already dead during birth, or was left there alive and died later.

Gohee said they sought the assistance of the barangay officials for the disposition of the baby. He was then buried after being blessed by a parish priest.
