In celebration of the 11th year of World Radio Day, the Communication and the Arts Program of the University of Negros Occidental – Recoletos (UNO-R) gave tribute to selected local Broadcasters during the launching of the exhibit dubbed “Radio and Trust: Ang Maragtas sa Kahanginan,” at the North Wing of SM City Bacolod Friday, Feb. 25.

The selected honorees include Renato “Boy” Duran of DyEZ Aksyon Radyo – Bacolod, Gigi Estrella of 94.3 iFM Bacolod, Elsie Esparacion Jolingan DyKB-RPN Bacolod, Jaz de Jesus – Madrigal of Bombo Radyo Bacolod, and Vic Mercado of DyRL Radyo Pilipino Bacolod.

Mass Communication Society President Kit Martin De Paula expressed his gratitude towards their partners who made the event possible.

“It was an opportunity for the program,” De Paula said, as he thanked SM City Bacolod for trusting them to spearhead the exhibit.

“I do hope it will open more opportunities for the UNO-R Communication and the Arts Program,” he added.

Meanwhile, Jolingan, in her message, stressed the importance of radio since then. “In these crucial days of the new normal when everything seems to be uncertain, it has become so important for us to connect,” she said.

In partnership with the SM City Bacolod, the exhibit will continue until March 6 at the East Bridge-way.

Also present in the launching were SM City Bacolod media relations officer May Castro, UNO-R Mass Communication Alumni Association president Glazyl Masculino, UNO-R College of Arts and Sciences Dean Annabee Magbanua-Claur, and representatives from the Kapisanan ng mga Broadkaster sa Pilipinas (KBP).
