BACOLOD City – Negros Occidental Police Provincial Director Col. Romeo Baleros on Tuesday said they aim to arrest top drug dealers in the province this year.

Baleros and top police officials in the province held the annual New Year’s call on Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson at the social hall of the provincial Capitol here where they also presented their accomplishments.

He said five drug groups are operating in the province and for the year 2019, they confiscated about P30 million worth of illegal drugs.

The alleged drug rings are the Divinagracia, Bertusio, Burgos, Mangontawar, and Ramos groups.

He also said that their accomplishment in the campaign against illegal drugs last year will be their baseline for 2020.

“The arrests we made last year dapat malampasan namin this year,” Baleros told reporters here.

Baleros also said that shipping illegal drugs into the province has also become difficult for suppliers.

Due to the relentless campaign by authorities, illegal drug supply in the province was reduced by 60 percent compared to last year.

Nahihirapan na rin silang makapasok ng supply,” he said.

On the report that Bacolod is a shabulized city, Baleros said illegal drug activity in the province is not as rampant as before.

He admitted that “hindi rin talaga natin mapigil yung pasok because this is a multibillion peso business kaya hindi rin natin matapos tapos ang labanan sa illegal drugs.”
