BACOLOD City – The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo) here has reminded its personnel to be on guard as the New People’s Army (NPA) will celebrate its anniversary on March 29, 2022.

During the regular virtual press briefing yesterday, Lt. Abegael Donasco, public information officer of Nocppo, said that police particularly those assigned in police stations should be on alert.

“Dapat nakabantay sila dahil hindi maiiwasan na baka may bababa,” Donasco said, adding that they have ordered the police to conduct information operation.

Donasco said that police were also prohibited to post on social media their “at the moment” locations.

“Ingatan ang sarili kasi we do not know na baka may nagmamasid and nag aantay lang na mag strike,” she added.

Just last month, some personnel of Binalbagan Municipal Police Station were ambushed by the NPA rebels in Barangay Bi-ao that caused injuries to two of them and a minor-civilian.

The policemen on board their patrol car was supposed to respond to a shooting incident victimizing a civilian, who was later found out to be an asset of the government forces, when they were ambushed.

The shooting incident was also claimed by the NPA as part of attacks against the police.
