BACOLOD City – Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said the provincial government is ready should President Rodrigo Duterte decide to visit at any given time in order to promote the tourist destinations in the province.

Duterte is mulling to visit every holiday destination in the country in order to allay fears made by the coronavirus disease or COVID-19.

Lacson said the province has a lot of tourist destinations the president can visit such as The Ruins in Talisay City, Lakawon Island in Cadiz City, and the Mambucal Mountain Resort in the town of Murcia.

Earlier, Duterte encouraged Filipino tourists not to be afraid and assured them of their health and safety.

Among the list of tourist spots Duterte may visit in the coming weeks are Boracay Island, Cebu, and Bohol.

Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles earlier commented that the tourism industry in the country was affected due to the threat of COVID-19 with the Department of Tourism estimating losses of up to P42.9 billion until April of this year.
