NegOcc polls peaceful

BACOLOD City – The head of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) in Negros Occidental said the elections in the province were peaceful despite some technical glitches.

Atty. Tictac Villanueva, Negros Occ. elections officer, said in a radio interview that there were no major election-related incidents recorded last week.

But Villanueva pointed out technical glitches like corrupted SD cards as the reason why the proclamations of the winners in the province was delayed and the Provincial Board of Canvassers was only adjourned last Friday, four days after the closing of the midterm polls.

Villanueva said their primary task is to gather and submit all necessary reports to the Comelec central office. She also confirmed reports that some candidates are filing elections protests.

Villanueva again reminded the candidates to submit their Statement of Contributions and Expenditures within 30 days after the elections.

Practically all the winners in the different localities and the province have been officially proclaimed.
