NegOcc hosts biking event

The province of Negros Occidental kicks off its health, sports and tourism advocacy through the “Abanse Negrense Pamilya Touriskleta – Pa Balhas sa Ikaayong Lawas” this Sunday.

Spearheaded by the Provincial Sports Office with support of the Provincial Tourism Office, the cycling activity is a health-directed undertaking where a very limited number of cyclists consisting of family bikers and disciplined bikers are invited to join.

The activity shall have the cyclists ride in limited batches to conform to the health protocols of physical distancing with necessary paraphernalia for health safety required by the pandemic situation.

Only around 100 bikers will ride from the Capitol driveway to Talisay City and Silay City. The ride includes visits to Magikland Park in Silay and The Ruins in Talisay.

The other batch of limited bikers shall bike from the Capitol driveway along the southern highway of Araneta onwards to Valladolid, passing by the scenic view of the Valladolid Seawall where the beautiful sunset is a must-experience scenario.

Anthony Carlo “Tony” Agustin sees this activity as a healthy way of giving the Negrenses the opportunity to maintain an active and energetic life during the pandemic. The cyclists compose of family members, individual bike enthusiasts, employees, businessmen, and disciplined personalities.

The Trauma Team Rescue volunteered for the event with the support of different departments of the provincial government along with the local governments headed by Talisay City Mayor Neil Lizares III, Silay City Mayor Mark Golez and Valladolid Mayor Enrique “Bebot” Miravalles.

The participating bikers thanked Governor Eugenio Jose “Bong” Lacson in his inspiring support to hold this health-directed activity while putting into the minds the sports and tourism aspect of the activity.
