National Archives to hold Seminar Workshop in Bacolod

THE National Archives of the Philippines in partnership with the Negros Cultural Foundation will hold a Seminar Workshop on Designing an Archival Exhibition (SWDAE) on July 9 to 11, 2019 at the Negros Museum in Bacolod City.

This event aims to encourage local artists and cultural workers to raise awareness about the National Archives as a resource of historical research, identity, building, etc., and Awaken the sense of appreciation and responsibility of the people towards our patrimony, NCF Museum Director Tanya Lopez said.

She said the National Archives of the Philippines has been conducting archival exhibitions around the country under the leadership of Executive Director Victorino Manalo and have implemented different methods of displaying materials and documents that are both cost effective and easily accessible to viewers.

These information and other experiences of the NAP Exhibit Team are what the Seminar Workshop on Designing an Archival Exhibition hopes to share and impart with the participants of this activity and it is open to museum and cultural workers, tourism officers, artists and teachers.

The workshop will discuss the following aspects of archiving like, Introduction to SWDAE, Basic Principles of Exhibit Making, Exhibit Conceptualization Approaches, Exhibit Archival Materials, Exhibit Design for Low Maintenance and Modest Budget, Exhibit Construction with New Technologies and Local Crafts, and Workshop/Practicum.
