Former men’s world no.1 lawn tennis player Rafael Nadal is still unsure to make the trip to Melbourne, Australia next month

After nursing a couple of injuries in the past months including one in his foot, the Spanish sensation kept mum on his readiness to go back on the Grand Slam stage.

“The idea is to go there and try my best there in Australia. Being 100% honest, I can’t guarantee it. I need to speak with my team,” Nadal said.

Speculations that Nadal will return in the first Grand Slam tournament next year came when he participated in the recently concluded Mubadala Tennis World Championship held in Abu Dhabi.

However, it wasn’t a warm welcome for Nadal after tasting defeats from Andy Murray and Denis Shapovalov.

It was Nadal’s first official game after being out on the sidelines, nursing another foot injury that bothered him in his past tournaments.

“I went through this process unfortunately a lot of times in my tennis career but I need to practice and I need to be healthy enough to go through this process. If that happens, I’m confident that I will be back,” added Nadal.

Despite the setbacks, Nadal is still the world’s no. 6 ranked male player and is hoping to collect more Grand Slam titles.

“I am not playing at all for money or just for fun, I am playing to keep achieving goals or at least to enjoy the process to try to achieve my goals,” Nadal shared.
