MVP jins make waves in prov’l taekwondo tilt

Young taekwondo jins under the Mark V. Pinggol Taekwondo Gym brought home13 medals in the 2019 Iloilo Provincial Taekwondo Championships held at the Justice Ramon Britanico Hall in Miagao on May 19. 

The student-athletes of head coach Denmark Pinggol stunned the competition after bagging 10 gold and three silver medals in the weekend event. 

Gold medalist Gabriel Dominic Capadosa, who eliminated all his opponents in the tournament, led the team.

Other gold finishers are Nathaniel Enrico Ballener, Phil Caleb Regalado, Anthony Benedict Planta, Akimeh Demavivas, Christian Pudadera, JJ Tenafrancia III, Niña Pearl Acosta, Quinn Jimenez, and Panfilo Jacobo Chua. 

Silver medals went to Kate Sheevanie Santocildes, Myles Philip Ita-as, and Janna Lucelle Ledesma.

The newly promoted yellow belts of MVP Gym and the novice jins showed great spirit during the game.

“It was a good start on their part. I’m very happy with their performances and skills and I would like to give all the credit to the New MVP parents for their support and to the MVP coaches Janjan Gersanib, Melcris Villarin and Diego Garcia for their help in building a new batch of MVP champions,” Pinggol said. 

More than 120 jins from 10 taekwondo gyms in the province participated in the event which aims to develop the skills of players at a young age.
