Chairman emeritus of the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) Manny V. Pangilinan said that he is confident with the country’s preparations as the main host for the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup despite the COVID-19 pandemic that is currently hitting the country.

Pangilinan explained that FIBA built a joint organizing committee as a preparatory group for the World Cup with the Philippines being joined by Japan and Indonesia.

“FIBA has organized a joint committee, tatlong bansa tayo Philippines, Japan, Indonesia. We’re in the process of agreeing with the logo, the slogan, things that are needed in the venue,” Pangilinan said.

Also, Pangilinan expressed his thoughts on the preparatory flow despite the pandemic, claiming that they will be ready by 2023 with the active progression that they are doing.

With the steps he and the committee are currently following, Pangilinan is certain that the 2023 FIBA World Cup hosted by the country will go smoothly.
