Motorist stabbed after he tried to help riders he hit

A 44-year-old driver landed in the hospital after he initially figured in a vehicular incident evening of July 2 at Pototan, Iloilo.

But Julius Arallia, 44, a resident of Barangay Bulalacao New Lucena, Iloilo, was not injured because of the collision.

Instead, Arallia was taken to the hospital after he was stabbed while trying to help the two riders he allegedly bumped in the accident.

According to reports, he was on his way home when his top-down tricycle collided with a motorcycle, which was running on the same lane along Ledesma Ward, Pototan around 9

p.m. Saturday.

The motorcycle driver lost control of the vehicle and he and his backrider fell to the road.

Arallia said he tried to help the driver, but an unidentified person hurriedly approached and stabbed him.

Arallia was hit on the left side of his body. The victim managed to drive his tricycle going home.

He was subsequently taken to Iloilo Mission Hospital in Iloilo City for treatment.

The Pototan Police Station said the two motorcycle riders did not book any complaint about the vehicular incident.

Police investigators are also checking CCTV footages to identify the perpetrators.
