Motorcycle rider killed, one hurt in road accident

BACOLOD City – A man died while his companion was wounded in a road accident at Hacienda Hinicayan road, Barangay E. Lopez, Silay City, Negros Occidental last Sunday.

Killed in the accident was Antonio Granada, 29, of Isabela town. His pal Michael Sunog, 30, of the said village was hurt.

Based on initial investigation, a motorcycle driven by Granada was tailing a truck when the latter vehicle reportedly switched lanes to avoid another truck loaded with sugarcane that was parked on the roadside.

Granada then overtook the truck he was tailing on the left side of the road, but he lost control, causing them to fall to the ground.

But the truck ran over Granada who was declared dead on arrival at a hospital, according to the police.

Sunog suffered injuries and is still confined at a hospital.

The 56-year-old truck driver was placed under police custody.
