BACOLOD City – The motorcycle driver who hit an elderly man at Barangay Sum-ag here on June 23, 2019 surrendered to the police six days after the incident.

Police Captain Jun Ray Batadlan, head of Police Station 9, identified the driver as Rundolph Hilado, 31, of Barangay Taloc, Bago City.

Batadlan said Hilado surfaced at the police station at around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday last week.

He surfaced six days after the hit-and-run accident which resulted in the death of 62-year-old Eduardo Enriquez.

“He (Hilado) was afraid when he learned about what happened. He returned to check the victim but because many people were already at the scene, he fled,” Batadlan said.

On June 23, Enriquez was crossing the street on his way home when Hilado ran over him.

A Ceres Liner bus and a tricycle also ran over the victim.

Bus driver Regie Lejarso, 38, of Binalbagan town was released from police custody, following a settlement between the family and the Vallacar Transit Inc.

On June 25, tricycle driver Raffymin Nobleza, 24 also appeared at the police station, two days after the accident happened.

Nobleza told the police that he fled when the accident happened because of fear, Batadlan said.

Batadlan said the victim’s family already refused to file charges against the three drivers.
