More troops deployed in Negros island

BACOLOD City – Another set of military troops were dispatched to Negros island on Friday to boost the operations of the Army’s 303rd Infantry Brigade (IBde) against the New People’s Army (NPA).

Troops from the 33rd Division Reconnaissance Company (33rd DRC), 3rd Infantry Division, Philippine Army, previously based in Panay island is the latest additional combat unit which and will be placed under the operational control of the 303rd IBde, a press release said.

They arrived at the Bacolod Real Estate Development Corp. (Bredco) port on board BRP Tausug- Philippine Navy vessel, two days after the arrival of troops of the 14th Civil Military Operations Battalion from Luzon here last February 26.

Colonel Inocencio Pasaporte, 303rd IBde commander said the 33rd DRC is capable to conduct long range combat and reconnaissance operations to hunt down the armed group of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP)-NPA.

Pasaporte said the arrival of the 33rd DRC will help them in their conduct of focused military operations and it’s a boost to heighten their security operations.

They are well trained in conducting combat operation just like the elite units of the Philippine Army – the Scout Rangers and Special Forces, he added.
