BACOLOD City – The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo) here will deploy more than 500 officers who will augment the provincial police force in the May 2022 elections.

Lieutenant Abegael Donasco, Nocppo’s public information officer, said the augmentation personnel came from Police Regional Office (PRO)-6 who are undergoing Basic Internal Security Operations Course (BISOC).

Donasco said the BISOC training will end a month before the election, thus they can beef up police stations with insufficient number of personnel.

Earlier, Donasco said that Nocppo lacked 424 personnel to reach the required total deployment of cops for the elections in the province at 2,452.

As of March 1, only 2,028 are deployable, according to Donasco, adding that 129 personnel of the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) were also ready to augment them.

But, with the recent development, Donasco said they are hoping that the additional personnel will suffice the needed personnel for the elections.

After the elections, the augmentation personnel will be given new assignments and will be distributed to various police stations that lack personnel, according to Donasco.
