MORE Power marks 3rd anniversary by taking a greener step forward

MORE Power, the sole power distributor in Iloilo City, takes a greener step forward as it marks its third anniversary in February 2022.

In a statement, MORE Power said it launched #DoMORE Initiatives in partnership with the Partners in Power Foundation.

“In the 3 years that we have served Iloilo City, we strived to go beyond our responsibilities as an electric utility distributor. We made it possible for Iloilo City to enjoy the lowest electricity rates in the country and we even started sourcing 100 percent of our electricity from renewable energy. This time, we will be celebrating our 3rd Anniversary by taking a greener step forward,” the distribution utility said.

Themed “With MORE Power comes Great Sustainability”, the initiatives will be part of MORE Power’s sustainability efforts towards a greener and more livable planet, and to better the lives of everyone.

MORE Power marked the launch with a mass at the Jaro Cathedral that was celebrated by Monsignor Meliton Oso Monday morning.

“On Feb 14-28, 2022, we will be spearheading several green activities for our 3rd anniversary which include mangrove and tree planting, releasing fingerlings, and even urban gardening. Indeed, February is MORE month. However, our efforts for our environment are not limited to our anniversary celebration.”

MORE Power secured its franchise after the signing of Republic Act 11212 by Pres. Rodrigo Duterte on Feb 14, 2019. It began actual operations on Feb 28, 2020.

The firm aims to plant 2,000 trees by the end of 2022, adopt a new mangrove planting site in coastal areas of Iloilo, help breed quality fishes in the Iloilo River, promote urban gardening and provide Ilonggos with cheap and healthy farm produce, and sustain these projects in the coming years.

“And you can join us to achieve this goal. You and I have the power to help our planet. As long as we work together, our future will be brighter and greener,” MORE Power said.
