Molo fire victims avail of TUPAD assistance

Department of Labor and Employment’s (DOLE) empathy to victims of calamities was felt once again when it included 299 fire victims in the 496 worker-beneficiaries to avail of emergency employment under TUPAD in Iloilo City.

The relief came after DOLE-O 6 aided affected workers hit by Tropical Storms Odette and Paeng around the region.

It can be recalled that the fire broke out around 4 am of Jan 27, 2023 in Molo district.

DOLE-6 throught its Iloilo Field Office learned from the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) that 201 families composed of 806 individuals from Barangay West Habog-Habog and 94 families including eight “sharers” (lumon) or a total of 324 individuals in Barangay San Juan were affected.

“DOLE is sensitive to the needs of the victims of calamities,” said Regional Director Atty. Sixto T. Rodriguez, Jr. as he sympathized with the families.

“Above all, it is our moral responsibility to help the distressed. Kahit pambili lang ng mga materials na pampatayo ulit sa bahay nila kung makakatulong ang mga programa ng Departamento.”

The beneficiaries will be provided with a Php4,500 wages for the 10-day community service rendered which includes the cleaning of the debris left by the fire.
