Moises Padilla to hold Magayon Hinuptanan Festival in March

BACOLOD City – Mayor Ella Celestina Garcia-Yulo of Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental said they are set for the in-person hosting of the Magayon Hinuptanan Festival on March 25-28, 2023.

Yulo said that everyone in the town is excited as this will be the first face-to-face staging of the festival after a three-year hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The mayor said it’s called Hinuptanan festival which means domesticated animals because the town is the livestock capital of the province of Negros Occidental.

“Hidlaw gid ang tanan sa fiesta,” she added.

Yulo said the highlight will be the street dancing competition that will be participated by all the barangays divided into two categories, Category A for the seven barangays in the población and Category B for the eight barangays outside the poblacion.

The participants will be dressed in costumes representing various domesticated animals.

Another attraction in the festivities is the Lechon festival which will be part of the kick-off activities right after the Parade and Opening program on March 25 to be followed by the opening of the Agro-Industrial fair and in the evening will be the Magayon Hinuptanan Queen 2023.

Also slated on March 25, 26 will be the 1st Marc and Michael Garcia Memorial Motocross competition, Mayor Ella Birada sa Hinuptanan Football Festival 2023, Shootfest Tournament and Billiards Competition.

E-Games Tournament on March 26 and Pamilya Extravaganza 2023 in the evening of the same day are also part of the events.

March 27 will be DepEd Day and on March 28 the finale of the fiesta will be the  Street Dance Competition and in the evening will be the Street party (Celebrity Band).
