BACOLOD City – A teenage boy was injured in a shooting incident outside their house at Barangay Malanog, Calatrava, Negros Occidental on June 15, 2019.

Police withheld the name of the 15-year-old victim.

Police Major Rocky Desear, Calatrava police chief said the victim was feeding their chicken when Engracio Dayanan Sr., 74, arrived at their house armed with an unidentified gun caliber.

The suspect then allegedly shot the victim without any reason.

The victim suffered gunshot wounds on his back and left wrist. He is confined at a hospital here.

Desear said the victim’s family is clueless on Dayanan’s motive for shooting the teen although police learned that the suspect and the victim’s father had a conflict over a piece of land.

It was also learned that the victim reportedly stood as a witness during a court hearing.

Desear said the suspect was with four other companions, including his daughter, Dionisia, who is the village chief.

“We are wondering why the village chief did not intervene or even pacified her father,” Desear said.

Desear said Dayanan and his four companions, including his daughter will be charged for frustrated murder. They are detained at the police station.

Additional charges for direct assault and obstruction of justice will also be filed against the village chief, Desear said.
