BACOLOD City – Three persons, including two security aides of Mayor Joselito Malabor of Isabela, Negros Occidental, were arrested morning of May 7, 2019 after police recovered firearms and ammunitions from their possessions.

Arrested were 60-year-old Alexander Ferrer, a resident of Barangay 8; Niel Ladrido of Barangay Tinongan, and Florentino Lopio of Barangay 9.

Cops, meanwhile, did not recover any firearms from the fourth subject of the raid, Dominique Kerr Yanson, 23, of Barangay Libas.

Malabor said the raid was politically motivated as he urged law enforcers to be fair in their implementation of the law.

He added that they will abide with the law and will post bail for his security aides, Ferrer and Lupio.

Ferrer is a retired soldier while Lupio is a former barangay official.

Malabor also said there had been constant threats against his life.

Based on information forwarded by Police Captain Roger Pama, Isabela municipal police chief, the raids were conducted after Judge Mila Yap-Camiso of the La Carlota City Regional Trial Court issued search warrants against Ferrer, Ladrido, Lopio, and Yanson.

The search yielded .45-caliber, and 9mm handguns, along with assorted rounds of ammunitions.
