ILOILO CITY Mayor Jerry Treñas hopes that more infrastructure projects will be implemented in the city under the last three years of President Rodrigo Duterte’s administration.

For the past three years, Treñas said that infrastructure projects have been successfully implemented in the metro.

“Well, for the past three years, aside from the fact that we were able to get rid of the big drug lords and reduce the supply of drugs in the city, infrastructure projects have been implemented here in the city. I hope, this infrastructure projects will further increase,” he said.

In particular, the mayor underscored the need to complete some unfinished national roads in the metro.

He also emphasized that the city needs more infrastructure projects such as vehicle overpass like the one in Brgy. Tacas in Jaro district.

“I think there are areas nga masyado gid busy kag kinahanglan ta sang vehicle overpass like the one in Tacas, Jaro which was already identified by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) as an area that needs vehicular overpass,” he said.

Aside from infrastructure projects, the mayor said that he is hoping that floodways in the metro will be maintained especially with the help of Iloilo City lone district Rep. Julienne Baronda.

Ang isa ko pa gid nga ginahope para sa city, ang maintenance sang aton nga floodway kay kun indi na ma-dredge, dako nga problema sa aton,” he said.

“There are still so many infrastructure projects that we can request from the national government and hopefully through Congresswoman Julienne Baronda we can bring them here,” he added.

Meanwhile, Treñas failed to attend the President’s fourth SONA on Monday at the Batasang Pambansa but he attended a meeting which the President called for all mayors and governors on Tuesday.
