ILOILO CITY Mayor Jose Espinosa has poured in hundreds of millions of pesos worth of infrastructure projects to various barangays in the metropolis for the convenience of its constituents.
The projects aim to improve living condition of the people, particularly the poor through better health, public safety and easy access to services.
These include construction and rehabilitation of public alleys, roads, health centers, multi-purpose halls, drainage systems and streetlights being budgeted by the 20 percent Development Fund since 2017.
We want to reach out to the barangays by bringing the programs, projects and services closer to them. We want the people to feel the progress being experienced by the city. The taxes paid by people and big businesses, with good governance, should go down to the grassroots level, Espinosa stressed.
Espinosas administration has implemented P419.8 million worth of projects in seven districts Jaro with P 123 million, Molo (P59.6 million), Mandurriao (P57.8 million), Arevalo (P 56.7 million), City Proper (P47.3 million), LaPaz (P42.8 million), and Lapuz (P32.6 million).
In Arevalo District, barangays So-oc under Punong Barangay Ricardo Tugado got P15.9 million worth of projects; Yulo Drive under Punong Barangay Geraldine Tumbocon, P5.5M; Sta. Cruz under Punong Barangay Felix Octavio, P3.5M; Sto. Niño Sur under Punong Barangay Cesar Espinosa, P3.2M; Bonifacio under Punong Barangay Alan Macazar, P3M; San Jose under Punong Barangay Alexander Abangan, P2.5M; Sto. Domingo under Punong Barangay Carolyn Selorio, P1.9M; and Sto. Niño Norte under Punong Barangay Melvin Minerva, P1.1M.
