ROXAS City, Capiz – The man who allegedly shot dead his 28-year-old live-in partner Thursday last week in Sitio Agmanakit, Barangay Dacuton, Dumarao, Capiz prefers to remain in police custody for his own safety.

Argie Celiz Mondia, 35, of Dacuton asked the police that he remain at the police station for fear that his partner’s family will retaliate.

Mondia was about to be released from police custody last Friday after the lapse of his reglementary period.

He voluntarily surrendered to the police after allegedly killing Ana Mae Lozada Castor of Agmanakit.

Based on the investigation by the Dumarao Municipal Police Station, the drunken Mondia went home around 12:40 a.m. and looked for Castor inside their house.

Mondia later saw the victim on a cradle inside a nipa hut near their house.

He confronted Castor asking her where she was during the day, the latter replied that she went with a male friend which angered the suspect.

Mondia then took a bolo and hacked Castor’s right hand. The victim then fled to the nearby rice field.

But the suspect chased and shot her with an unidentified firearm.

Castor succumbed to a gunshot wound on her back at the Dao District Hospital.

Castor’s family called for justice for the victim saying they want Mondia jailed for life.
