BACOLOD City – A man died after he was stabbed and hacked to death by two persons at Barangay Inayawan, Cauayan, Negros Occidental Thursday night.

Killed was Ross Tolentino, 32, of the said village.

Police Major Lowell Garinganao, town police chief, said the victim and the suspects Jorge Magbanua, 24; and James Paul Sapanit, 24, both residents of the said village, met at a videoke bar, where they separately had a drinking session.

When Tolentino went out of the bar to urinate, the two suspects followed him and allegedly attacked him with bladed weapons, he added.

The victim was rushed to a hospital, where he was declared dead early the following day.

Garinganao said the suspects committed the crime because of their anger towards the victim, who allegedly previously threatened them.

“They have a grudge against the victim,” he added. He said that the victim faced a rape case in the town.

Garinganao said Magbanua was arrested at his residence and police recovered from him a bolo which he used in the crime while Sapanit is still at large.

Murder charges will be filed against the two suspects.
