ROXAS CITY, Capiz – A 19-year-old man publicly apologized for threatening to kill Capiz Governor Esteban Evan Contreras via social media.

Arvin Jay Lepardo of Barangay Ilaya Ivisan, Ivisan, Capiz made the apology after he was arrested for posting “Nami patyon si governor (It’s better to kill the governor) on his social media account.

According to Lepardo, he was carried by his emotions after learning via radio reports that the implementation of the general community quarantine (GCQ) in Capiz will be prolonged.

He said that he is not capable of killing “the father of Capiceños” and has no bad intention against the latter.

Leopardo promised not to repeat his act.

Meanwhile, Police Colonel Julio Gustilo Jr., Capiz Police Provincial Office (CPPO) director, said that the governor has no intention of filing charges against Lepardo.

Gustilo, who immediately went to the residence of Lepardo, said that the governor only wanted Lepardo to apologize.

The police director said he is convinced that Lepardo is not capable of harming the governor. He instead advised Lepardo to be responsible in using social media.

The police official allowed Lepardo to go home and asked the latter to deactivate his Facebook account that went viral.
