A 75-year-old widow was arrested morning of July 26, 2021 for alleged electricity theft.

Antonio Ang, 75, was collared at his home at Barangay Lapuz Norte, Iloilo City.

Members of the Iloilo City Police Station 2 and the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) tracker team apprehended Ang for violation of Republic Act 7832 (Anti-Pilferage Act of 1994) docketed as Criminal Case Number 21-86633.

Judge Redentor Eugenia Esperanza of the Regional Trial Court Branch 22, Iloilo City issued the arrest warrant on July 21, 2021.

The court recommended a P72,000 bail for his temporary liberty.

It was gathered that personnel of MORE Electric and Power Corporation discovered Ang’s alleged illegal connection on Oct. 9, 2020.

Records from More Power stated that he had a “bypass/jumper wire directly connected to More Power’s secondary line without passing through the registered electric meter.”

Ang is part of the 116 individuals that MORE Power hauled to court for electricity pilferage since the company took over as Iloilo City’s lone power distributor in February 2020.
