BACOLOD City – A man was allegedly mauled and hacked to death by his neighbors at Sitio Tayunan, Barangay San Rafael, Hinoba-an, Negros Occidental last Saturday.

Police identified the victim as Junie Carbonilla, 41, of the said village.

Major John Ganzon, town police chief, said the incident happened when one of the suspects identified as Michael Indocan confronted Carbonilla about the altercation of their respective children.

Since both were reportedly drunk, a heated argument ensued between them, Ganzon said.

Carbonilla then noticed that Indocan was allegedly armed with a bolo, thus the former attacked first to defend himself.

Indocan managed to retaliate until his relatives saw the commotion, prompting his six relatives to allegedly gang up on Carbonilla.

Ganzon said Carbonilla succumbed to multiple hack wounds while Indocan suffered a lone hack wound in the head and is now confined to a hospital here.

Indocan’s two relatives were arrested while four others are still at large.

Ganzon said that homicide charges will be filed against the six suspects.
