There seems to be no compelling reason why a 24-year-old man shot to death his sister’s common-law husband afternoon of June 23, 2022 in Badiangan, Iloilo.

Ricardo Prodigo III, a resident of Barangay Agusipan, Badiangan, allegedly shot Kim Gerada, who was on a short vacation with his family, out of the blue.

“He (Prodigo) told investigators nga nagpalanulom daw iya panulukan,” Lieutenant Ma. Rosario Morada quoted the suspect.

The 32-year-old Gerada is a resident of Jalauod Norte, Zarraga, Iloilo.

Gerald’s and Prodigo’s sister have two children. The family has been staying in the village for only three days when the incident happened.

According to reports, Gerada was playing cards with Prodigo’s relatives at the house of

of Henry Lauro around 4:10 p.m. of Thursday when the suspect arrived.

The suspect went near the group and, without any apparent reason or cause, pumped several bullets on the unsuspecting victim.

Gerada suffered multiple gunshot wounds on the different parts of his body.

He was rushed to Federico Roman Tirador Sr. Memorial District Hospital in Janiuay town but was declared dead on arrival.

Recovered from the scene were four fired casings of caliber .45 ammunition.

The suspect fled after the incident but turned himself in to the police a few hours later.

Miranda said they already filed an inquest case for murder against Prodigo on Friday.
