BACOLOD City – Police are waiting for a man to surface after he allegedly hacked his older brother at Purok Paghidaet 1, Barangay Tampalon, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental last Sunday.

The victim was identified as Nelward Genega, 34, of the said village.

Lieutenant Colonel Raymond Cruz, city police chief, said Nelward was celebrating his child’s birthday at their house, when he figured in an argument with his live-in partner.

Cruz said the victim’s live-in partner then packed her things to leave the house, but the victim did not allow her to go.

While the couple was arguing, Nelward’s younger brother Haynilito, 29, pacified them, but the brothers eventually ended up in a heated argument, Cruz said.

“Nakainom sila pareho kay birthday sang bata ka victim,” Cruz said.

Cruz said that Haynilito then took a bolo and allegedly hacked his elder brother, hitting his left leg. The victim is still confined in a hospital.

Cruz said the family is helping the police encourage the suspect to surrender for a possible settlement.
