A 46-year-old man is now behind bars after he allegedly attacked and killed his older brother late afternoon of Dec 6, 2022 in Ivisan, Capiz.

Dioscoro Bacaro readily went with responding policemen who arrested him after the hacking episode at Barangay Malocloc Norte, Ivisan.

Members of the Ivisan Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) took the victim, 61-year-old Tomas Bacaro, to the nearest hospital but he did not pull through.

Captain Greg Anthony Salbang, Ivisan police chief, said the victim succumbed to a hack injury on his neck.

Investigation indicated that the Bacaro brothers had been at odds for some time already.
“It’s about the victim’s unpaid debt to the suspect,” he said.

It was aggravated by a land dispute within their family.

On Tuesday morning, the two had a heated confrontation which led to the victim punching the suspect.

They were eventually pacified.

But several hours later, Dioscoro, who only lived several meters away, went to his brother’s house, They again argued, but this time, Dioscoro was already armed with a bolo and hacked Tomas.

He did not flee from the area and waited for policemen to arrive.

Salbang said Tomas’ family said they would pursue criminal charges against the suspect.
